Abstract

A support for the axle box of a two axled railway wagon has a hanging suspension with two links (2, 3) inclined at 30 deg. to the vertical. These are joined by an intermediate bearing (4). The lower link is longer than the upper one and there is a ratio of 6 in the longitudinal/transverse elastic return characteristics. The longitudinal return of the box is as far as the upper link and both links take part in its transverse return. The transverse oscillations of the box are also damped by a supplementary force given by a friction surface (8) of polytetrafluorethylene.
