Abstract
The metal plate for heat exchangers has preformed openings and is folded to accommodate the tubes of the heat exchanger. The plate is readily connected with tubes for forming a complete ribbed heat exchanger. The hole pattern pressed into the sheet metal plate ensures good contact between tubes and hole edges on folding. The continuous metal sheet has a repeating pattern of longitudinal and transverse slots which may be separate or connected to form cruciform openings. The plate is bent to form a convolute shape in which the slots are correctly aligned to accommodate pipes carrying liquid.
