Abstract

The pump has a shaft which is solid at one end and projects at this end to be coupled to the driving motor. The other end of the shaft has a hollow core. The inclined swashplate is integral with the shaft at the junction of the solid and hollow sections. It has a radial channel within it which communicates with a crescent shaped slot in the face of the swashplate. Fluid flows in through the hollow centre of the shaft, is accelerated by centrifugal action in the radial channel and enters the hollow pistons on their suction strokes through the crescent shaped slot. Discharge is at the other end of the cylinders through non return valves (9).
