Abstract

The edge connector with rows of contacts is made from a flat plate of electrically conducting material. The support strip is produced with a stamping tool and produces prongs which terminate in spring loaded jaws. The haws are funnel shaped with sections facing each other. The free ends of the jaws are linked by strips. The ends of the jaws are curved inwards to form an acute angle at the point of intersection of extensions through the two axes. The two briding sections each having a straight centre section running parallel to each other and then transforming into sections which converge. A layer of solder is applied between the briding sections and between the limbs of the strip. This enables a joint to be made by controlled radiant heat.
