Abstract

The male/female connector block, for PCBs, has its male part consisting of a flat insulating strip (1) that holds an array of narrow metal contacts (2). The contacts are folded around the lower edge of the strip to give two contact surfaces on opposite sides and the other ends of the contacts form projecting terminal tags (20) for wires. The female part consists of an array of U-shaped spring contacts each of which grips one of the male part's contacts. The 'U's clip into an insulating holder and their terminal legs for the PCB project out through the bottom.
