Abstract

A gas burner control system has a flame control module auxiliary control modules, a flame presence detection electrode, an ignition system, and a gas inlet valve. A flame failure detection circuit uses the burner as one of the electrodes, the second electrode being a metal point. In the presence of a flame a continuous current flotws in a transformer secondary circuit and activates an oscillator. The oscillator is coupled to a capacitor and a thyristor which allows the opening of the automatic fuel valve. The transformer supplies power to the circuit and a diode allows current to flow to the full valve when the thyristor obstructs the current flow.
