Abstract
Prostaglandin analogues of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 together represent oxygen or one of R1 and R2 is H and the other is OH, one of R3 and R4 is H and the other is OH, and R5 is an opt. unsaturated, opt. branched 3-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue or is 7-11C aralkyl), e.g. 15-hydroxy-11 -oxo-cis-6,19-prostadienoic acid, their physiologically tolerable salts with organic and inorganic bases, and their esters with aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and araliphatic 1-8C alcohols are new cpds. (I) are their salts and esters have spasmogenic activity as well as and bronchodilating, hypotensive, gastric secretion inhibiting and abortifacient activity. Compared with natural prostagladins, they have greater stability.
