Abstract

The sash mounted hinged glazing unit for converting existing timber casement windows to double glazing without sash modification, has a self supporting peripheral frame of metal sections (1' 11'') which can pivot about a vertical edge axis, the frame being maintained closed by magnetic catches. The metal sections incorporate a rebate (2), remote from the sash mounted face, and for reception of the glazing (3) via groove and gasket (4), and are united at frame corners via angular fittings. At hinge corners these latter fittings include catilever plates embodying hinge pin sockets, and the hinge remote stile has fittings at the head and foot which are attracted by sash mounted magnets.
