Abstract

In an electrolytic cell for the recovery of Ag from waste photographic solns., mechanical means are provided to agitate the electrolyte in the vicinity of the cathode at a circulation speed in the order of >=1 m/sec. Pref. the agitation is provided by arms rotating relative to a cylindrical cathode. Pref. the electrolyte is contained in a circular cell. Formation of Ag2S is suppressed and current densities may be increased by a factor of 25 without its formation.
