Abstract

In the parent patent a process for the recuperation of gases arising from metallurgical furnaces in combustion or refining, of the type where the gases are sucked by a principal fan through a duct over the furnace mouth and flow to a combustion chamber, with the simultaneous intake of air round the duct using an auxiliary fan, this air being used in the combustion chamber. In the present invention, the novelty is that part of the gas fed to the combustion chamber is not burned in that chamber but is supplied to another, appropriate point of utilisation. The combustion of the gas in the chamber is pref. prevented or reduced by reducing the air intake round the gas duct. The unburnt or only partially burnt gases can be employed for other uses, e.g. in a gasometer or in a boiler.
