Abstract
Process for mfg. double walled glass containers for thermal insulation, the novelty being that the outher and inner elements are accurately aligned w.r.t. each oher in a rotary device, leaving the edges which are to be welded free and in the same plane, the latter being at 90 degrees to the axis of the rotary device; the two elements are then rotated and their ends heated until the edges melt and a suitable device is applied to the edges until they meet together and form a weld. In the case of bottle-shaped containers, i.e. with a narrow neck, the neck is pref. formed prior to welding the two walls together. A simple and rapid process in which glass elements of different wall thicknesses can be employed if required.
