Abstract

A valve operated by a motor has switches to cut motor current when the valve reaches its open or closed position, which is marked by mechanical stops. The motor is single phase and synchronous, with an arbitrary direction of rotation. If the motor starts in the incorrect direction, it will be unable to move the valve due to mechanical stops and will itself change its direction of rotation due to the fact that it does not possess a ratchet. The motor (1) is connected to the valve member (2) in cage (3) my means of a shaft. In the cage two projections (4, 10) serve as stops for the valve-closed position, and an external stop (5) for the valve-open position cooperates with arm (7) which itself acts in conjunction with switches (6, 8). Switch (9) is used to transfer to another supply.
