Abstract

The lavatory is designed especially for use by Moslems, but could also be used in hospitals or by the elderly. At the side of the lavatory bowl and connected to it by an opening large enough to allow a person's hand to be inserted through it, is a second smaller basin(2) which can be filled with clean water. The person using the lavatory is therefore able to wash himself with a sponge and water without having to get up off the seat. The water is emptied after use along with the flushing of the lavatory. The hand-basin can be placed to the right or left of the bowl.
