Class 26 A water-closet or commode device for a paraplegic person comprises a raised platform 11 carrying a closet pan or commode 10 and arm rests 17, 18 on the sides of the platform, and a clear space is left at the rear to enable the user to approach the device from the rear in a wheel chair and with the aid of the arm rests to transfer himself to the closet or commode. The platform may be arranged so that the wheel-chair foot-rest fits underneath it.
