Abstract

A rectangular paper sheet (10) has a central elongate portion (11) which is perforated (at 12) except along one minor end. The sheet overlies a toilet seat and when the perforated part is separated it falls into the bowl but is held attached to the remainder of the sheet by the non-perforated end. When the toilet is flushed the entire sheet is drawn into the water and flushed away. The disposable cover is especially but not exclusively for use in public toilets. A supply of sheets is provided for individual use. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Hygenic Cover for Toilet Seat This invention relates to a hygenic cover for a toilet seat.
Normally, one would not use a public toilet without first cleaning the saat.
It is an object of this invention to provide a hygenic cover for use on the seats of public lavatories or on toilets at home or in hotels.
According to the invention, there is provided a paper sheet adapted to overlie a toilet seat and having a perforated central portion which can be at least partially freed from said sheet.
Preferably, said central portion is nonperforated over a portion of its outline so that it remains attached to the body of the sheet after being perforated.
Preferably, the sheet is rectangular and the longitudinal axis of the central portion extends in the longitudinal direction.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a plan view of a hygenic cover, according to the present invention showing one form of perforated central portion; and Fig. 2 is a similar view showing an alternative perforated central portion.
Referring to Fig. 1, the sheet 10 is made of absorbent paper and is rectangular, being longer than it is broad. The dimensions are such that the sheet can overlie a toilet seat A central portion 11 is provided which is perforated at 12 over most of its outline. The central portion has a bulbous end which tapers to a narrow end 13 defined by parallel sides. The perforations terminate at the end of said parallel sides.
Fig. 1 illustrates one form of central portion 11; Fig. 2 shows an aiternative form 11 A.
In use, a supply of sheets, i.e. 200 per pack, is provided in a water closet. A person wishing to use the toilet removes one sheet from the pack and places it over the seat. The perforated central portion is partially separated by rupturing the line of perforations 12 and the freed end falls into the bowl to lie on the water, the central portion 11 remaining attached to the sheet 10 or 14. The user sits on the paper covered seat and the waste material lands on the paper forcing it to sink to the bottom of the bowl. When the toilet is flushed, the water will draw off not only the central portion but also the remainder of the sheet from the seat; alternatively, that portion can be slipped into the bowl before flushing.
The hygenic seat cover, as hereinbefore described, is advantageous in that persons will more readily use a public lavatory without fear of contacting dirt or contracting disease, and no special cleaning preparations are needed after each use.
