Abstract

The plant for the continuous prdn. of hollow "plaster of paris" units has two vertical silos (60) receiving and discharging gypsum and fillers. Slotted disc obturators (64) effect quantitative control, and a screw (70) conveyor (68) mixes components and transports them to a third silo (76). Another mixer (88) located beneath this third silo serves to entrain the mix via homogenising to moulds successively presented on a turntable. This mixer (88) has twin tightly meshing screws. Homegenisation is achieved by meshing lobes after the screws. Water (84) is added to the mix as it enters (82) the screw housing (88). The plant includes instruments for observing the level of material in the third silo and adjusting prime silo flows to suit. Electrical instruments controlling the flows of material from the third silo and water into the screw mixer.
