Abstract

A continuous band filter for liqs. has the filtering section of the band running horizontally between a drive roller and an idler roller, a flocculated suspension being fed onto the horizontal section so that filtrate passes through the band and drained cake is discharged over the drive roller. The return run of the band from drive roller to idler roller is stretched over spring-loaded jockey rollers inside the band and compressed air is blown through the band, inside to outside, either from nozzles or via perforations in a hollow jockey roller supplied with compressed air. Used for filtration of liq. suspensions, partic. wet sewage sludge. Thorough contra-flow cleaning of band is obtd. while in motion.
