Abstract

A car head-rest with built-in loud speakers can be used for individual radio reception in vehicles. It consists of a plastic foam body (3) enclosed by a layer (7) of air-tight material and containing two loud-speakers (5) in two recesses (2). The two loud-speakers (5) are fixed at an angle toward the head of the user. The two loud-speakers (5) are located against shoulders (18) of the recesses (2) and are suspended by the foam (3) so as to minimise any vibration effect. The foam (3) of the head-rest can also provide an acoustic absorbing medium. The head-rest also has a volume control knob (15) driving a potentiometer and a tone control knob (22) driving a frequency control regulator (20).
