Abstract

The post for wire fencing keeps the strands the required distance apart, and is strong, cheap and easily installed. It has a U-shaped central section (11) which extends backwards from the plane of the fence in order to give a moment of inertia which is greater perpendicular to the plane than parallel to it. It has a series of small tongues (12) at regular intervals down one side (13) of this central section, each tongue is curved upwards and is joined to the main post at the base (18) at a regular distance from it. The tongues also have a part (22) which is bent back, forming with the central section an opening into which the fencing wire is inserted.
