Abstract

The screened coaxial cable consists of an inner conductor (1), a plastic insulating layer (2), a first screening layer (3), a second screening layer (4), a third screening layer (5), and an insulating outer sheath (6). A gap (7) is left between the first and second screening layers. The first and possibly the third screening layers are made from wire meshes, whilst the second screening layer is formed by winding a metal tape around the first screening layer to give a flexible tube, leaving the air gap between the two. The metal tape is wound as an overlapping helix along the cable.
