Abstract

Polymsn. catalyst for alpha-olefins is made by treating TiCl4 with a mixt. of a dialkyl aluminium halide (I) and an alkyl aluminium dihalide (II), (I) being used in an at least equimolar amt. on TiCl4, and reacting the components to form a reduced violet solid. The catalyst gives a high rate of polymsn., stereoregular prod., and regular particle size.
