Abstract
Rain gauge appts. comprises one or more collectors(10) of rain drops having means(11) for emitting a light beam of known area, a photodetector(16) sensitive to the variations of light flux caused by a rain drop passing through the light beam(N) and a filtering/amplifying stage(18). Each collector has an associated electronic unit whic produces an analogue signal whose peak level is proportional to the cross section of the drop. This unit comprises an integrator circuit which provides a signal which is integrated w.r.t. the time of the analogue signal and whose level is proportional to the cross section of the drop divided by its velocity.
