Abstract

The thermal insulation strip consists of a flexible plastics outer cover strip (10) to the inside of which is high frequency welded, along the longitudinal edges (12, 13), a plastics fibre insulating layer (11). Adhesive strips (13a, 13b, 12a, 12b) are attached along the edges on opposite faces and are covered by protective paper strips (12c, 13c). When the strip is wrapped around the pipe, the adhesive faces come together and may be activated by removing the paper strips. The adhesive is such that the joint may be peeled apart for inspection of the pipework. For installation around pipe bends, the covering sleeve and adhesive edges are formed with transverse indentations which allow the material to buckle in a controlled manner to fit the bend.
