Abstract
The hacksaw has a screw-jack lever mechanism for obtaining blade tension, a lever (27) hinging (28) from the back (7) of the bow in the vicinity of the handler. The trailing blade (1) end fixes to this lever, the lever being displaceable angularly via its connection (23, 29) to the handle extremity (4). Pref. the lever (27) is cranked (27a, 27b) with the blade attaching at the elbow (6), and its rotation is effected by displacing the free end in a direction parallel to the handle. The displacement mechanism comprises a threaded (24) rod (23) which projects from within the handle and to which the free lever end (27a) is slidably fixed via an adjusting nut (29).
