Abstract
The flame tube is made using numerous monolithic ceramic rings assembled in a casing in ows, one end of the row butting against a stationary thrust pad using clamps working on the other end of the row. The rings are pref. made of silicon nitride and their end faces are inclined w.r.t. a radius of the flame tube; the pref. assembly consists of a casing with an outer- and an inner-ring wall forming an annular cavity inside which are inner and outer row of the monolithic rings. All the mating surface in this assembly are inclined so the components can slide w.r.t. each other when varying amounts of expansion and contraction occur in service.
