Abstract

The pump is particularly for motor vehicles. Along the shaft driving the impeller and in the direction of the latter there are mouned in succession a ball or roller bearing a sealing packing, and a thrower turning with the shaft. This tends to drive the water away from the wall of the pump housing through which the shaft passes. The bearing can be accommodated in a bore in the pump housing, and the thrower is situated where this bore joins the chamber in the housing accommodating the impeller. The packing can be of the double-lip type, and the bearing assembly can comprise a ball race between two roller faces.
