Abstract
A ferrous metal article having a brazed joint formed of a non-ferrous brazing alloy of m.pt. 1125 degrees-1925 degrees F has a diffusion bonded layer of an aluminide of Fe, Ni, Co or Cr over its entire surface, including the joint, wherein the Fe, N, Co or Cr is bonded as a first layer onto the surface of the article andis then enriched outwardly in aluminide by diffusion of Al into the first layer. Corrosion and fatigue resistance is improved.
