Abstract
Tuyere for introducing the hot wind into a blast furnace comprises (a) an annular hollow double-walled body - with one external and one internal wall - defining a central duct for the hot wind and an annular space bounded by the two walls which are joined together near the front to form the nose of the tuyere, (b) means for supplying a cooling liquid for circulation in the annular space, is also provided with (c) means inside the annular space to channel the liquid into a continuous annular sheet circulating from the breech of the tuyere towards the front thereof along one of the walls then along the nose to return to the breech along the outer wall, (d) a discharge chamber for collecting the annular sheet of liquid reaching the rear of this other wall and for dishcharging it outside the body. More efficient cooling and therefore a longer life in service for the tuyeres is obtd.
