Abstract

The recuperative exhaust gas burner uses reduced amounts of thermal energy for burning of contaminants. This burner has a gas permeable catalyst cylinder (12) which encloses a combustion chamber with burner flame. The annular space (5) outside the catalyst forms a heat exchanger with axial pipes (4). Contaminated exhaust gases enter axially in a direction against the flame and treated exhaust gas leaves the burner through a lateral outlet (16). Contaminated gases enter axial pipes (4) arranged between the outer shell and the catalyst. These pipes duct the exhaust gases to the other, flame end of the burner where they are entrained by the flame.
