Abstract

The device comprises a means for forming at least one fluid vortex in the form of at least one chamber (11) of round cross-section which has channels (12), entering at right angles to the longitudinal axis and tangentially in the outer wall of the latter, for the introduction of a fluid and cylindrical tubes (13, 14) for the introduction and removal of the yarn (15), which are arranged coaxially at both ends of the chamber, in order to ensure that, when the device is in operation, the run-through path for the yarn extends virtually along or parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fluid vortex formed in the chamber and extending into the two tubes. The device makes it possible to transfer heat both from the fluid to a yarn and from the yarn to the fluid and results in virtually no yarn twisting or looping of the individual filaments of a multifilament yarn running through. It is thus suitable for the thermosetting of multifilament yarn crimped by false twisting.
