Abstract

Liquid filtration is performed with alternating filtration and backwashing periods, each lasting between 0.0001 sec-1.0 sec., with the ratio of the filtration periods to the backwashing periods being 1-15:1. Net liqid flow through the filter approaches that of a clean liqid through a clean filter.
