Cholesterol and lipid levels are reduced by administering daily 25-2500 mg. of a cpd. (I) or its salt - (where R is glycine, taurine, OH, >12C acyloxy or alkoxy; X is H and Y is OH, acyloxy or alkoxy, or X and Y together is OXO).
