1359409 Pharmaceutical compositions INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT CORP 13 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 57482/72 Heading A5B Cholesterol and lipid levels in mammals may be reduced by administration of a composition comprising (a) an α-, #- or γ-sitosterol and (b) a compound of formula: wherein. R is hydroxy, acyloxy, alkoxy, -NHCH 2 COOH or NHCH 2 CH 2 SO 3 H, X is H and Y is hydroxy or acyloxy or X and Y together represent oxo. Compounds of type (b) specified include 3α, 7α-dihydroxy-5#- chloanic acid, 12-desoxy-cholyltaurine, 12- desoxy-cholylglycine, and 3α, 7α, 12α-trihydroxy-5#-cholamic acid.
