Abstract

The fruit labelling machine has a running surface for the items to be labelled (F). The machine includes a conveyor mechanism (20) adjoining the running surface to move a label (L) into the movement path of the object (F) on to the running surface with the adhesive side of the label facing the object. There are also control devices (52, 54, 56) to monitor the pick-up of a label moved forward by the object, to switch on the conveyor mechanism thus moving the next label forward. The control devices include a switch which reacts to the lack of a label on the band (T) at the pick-up point and controls the conveyor mechanism accordingly.
