Abstract

Carton material for making labelled packages where the blanks to be used have a protective cover over those zones where the label on the internal face of the constructed carton or box can come in contact with the pack contents. The cover protects labels from being defaced by abrasion, e.g. by the base or the caps of bottles. The film provides protection for a minimal increase in pack size or weight. The protective cover is a thin flexible plastic film, pref. of polyethylene or polypropylene, applied either on one or more continuous tapes or as patches. The cover may be of flat, double-wall film bonded to the blank by one face and enclosing padding material. Simple equipment for applying film to the surface of e.g. faced, corrugated board.
