Abstract

A receptacle containing (1) a predetermined quantity of the liquid to be studied is fitted with means of heating and/or cooling and has a piston (9) which is displaced by the change in volume of the liquid. The piston slides in a cylinder (3) formed by the neck of the receptacle (1). This piston cylinder unit may be formed of an Euter syringe. The piston is coupled to the needle (13) of an industrial indicating instrument (11) by a rack (10) and pinion (12) system. A thermometer (8) extends into the receptacle which contains a magnetic agitator member (15) controlled by a lower housing (16).
