Abstract

To produce doors or other furniture panels showing the architectural feature of a solid construction put together by dovetailing, previous designs used plain plywood panels with channels grooved in and painted dark. The present design uses a plain blockboard (2) the surface of which is stained to the dark colour required and dried. Onto this surface strips or rectangles (14) are glued with suitable gaps (8) between them to give the impression of the dovetail joints of individual boards. The thickness of the glued-on rectangles corresponds to the optional depth of the groove. In mass production it is possible to arrange the rectangles on a template and transfer summarily onto the plain blockboard.
