Abstract

Continuous production of particle board with integral covers of prefabricated film are made by depositing adhesive coated particles as a uniform layer on to the film and then consolidating the union of particles to each other and to the film between heated rollers. Suitable for making boards based on wood chips, chopped straw, bagasse, ground cork etc. The integral film layer enhances the stiffness and impact resistance of the agglomerated board, reduce porosity, and provide a gloss surface which is intrinsically attractively attractive or requires quantities of paint for good coverage.
