Abstract

The screw is perpendicular to the pipe surface and provides more even loading and in some applications, easier access. The principle of operation is that the threaded ends of the clip are drawn through a plain collar by rotation of the screw which passes between them. The loading is symmetrical because both ends are tensioned equally by the screw. For pipes having diameters within a narrow range, the clip ends are contained within the collar, but for more general use, notches in the top face of the collar allow the ends to pass through. The clip is useful for attaching deflection components to cathode ray tube necks and may be constructed cheaply from plastics and tightened by a self tapping screw.
