Abstract

A solar heating system forming part of an external wall of a house, uses a large number of bottles which are embedded in cement forming part of the wall, and which can be enclosed between windows front and rear. Two vertical partitions with a space between them can be formed from horizontal bottles with the tops removed, and lined with reflective metal foil, but not the ends, so that light can pass through. The top parts of these partitions are spanned by two rows of whole bottles filled with sand, and between them are embedded pieces of ribbed concrete reinforcement rod. An inlet duct at the bottom can be made from cylindrical bottle sections, and air passes up between the partitions then out through a horizontal channel at the top into the room or to a water heater.
