Abstract

The lower sheet is turned down on all four sides (2a) to closely follow the contours of the mattress, the top of the mattress being covered by the centre portion (1a) of the sheet. Each side corner (3a) is sewn to correspond with the thickness of the mattress and the remaining material, at each end, is cut to form an angle. These flaps (4a) are tucked under the mattress and joined to the corners of the adjacent flaps by elasticated gussets (4a). The top sheet is fabricated similarly, the gusseted corners being at the bottom only; the head end being left open for use.
