Abstract

A fixed cylindrical body has end plates in the upper of which is fixed centrally a vertical screwed shaft. A screwed hub on the shaft carries arms which support nozzles in contact with the inner wall of the body. The nozzle ends are formed from low friction balls held in contact with the body wall by springs. In the body wall are holds, in a spiral formation, fitted externally with pipe connectors. A motor drives the hub round via gears and the screwed shaft causes the hub to travel axially also. A spring loaded ball and socket system ensures that the nozzles are indexed to the holes by an electrical interlock connected to the motor. A passage connects purging air to one nozzle which is two tube connectors ahead of the sampling or distribution nozzle fed via another passage and flexible tube from the reservoir.
