Abstract

The wheel is totally submerged in a pond or river and is maintained in a vertical plane with a horizontal axis. The gas is supplied to the hub of the wheel through a central hole in the shaft. The hub connects with the spokes of the wheel which are hollow and carry the gas towards the rim. The outlets from the hub to the spokes are blanked off on one side of the hub. The gas from each spoke passes into a cup blanked off at the leading edge and open at the other. The cups are full of liquid on one side, and of gas on the other, thus causing rotation. The gas is collected and may be burnt.
