Abstract

A cap to cover the stopper and neck of a bottle, has a tear-off ring (2) attached at top and bottom by easily broken pieces (4, 5). The depth of the tear-off ring is sufficient to cover the head of the stopper (8) as well as the rim (7a) round the neck of the bottle. A ring of deformable material (2a) protrudes inwards, so that the stopper can be pushed into, and retained within, the cap, before the two parts are fitted to the bottle. The cap is pushed over the neck of the bottle until depressions (1a) on the skirt (1) of the cap engage beneath the rim (7b) on the bottle neck.
