Abstract

An anti theft device for a bicycle consists of a strong flexible cable (2) which can be retained inside the telescopic saddle support tube (4 5) forming part of the frame of the bicycle by means of a fitting (3) at one end of the cable and which carries a locking device (7, 8) at the other end of the cable, so that the cable can be partially extracted from the tube, until it is sufficiently long to be doubled around the rim of the rear wheel and locked by the locking device. A spring can be fitted to hold the cable in the retracted position while not in use. In an alternative design, the cable is housed inside a separate tube which is attached to the saddle support tube.
