Abstract
A linear induction motor (10) has a vertical inductor with two faces acting on a vertical plate on a track, with guide rollers (30) running free on vertical axes, positively located relative to the vertical plate. The vehicle is guided independently and can move without affecting alignment of the inductor. To enable this to be done the inductor block is fixed to traverse parts (24) (26) to transmit push and pull forces, but not couples. The traverses are of square section and a suspension pin (70) transmits the inductor weight via rollers to the square section and two fixing points (78), (80). There is a fork piece (82) with a pin (84) and rod (86) joining a fixing point (84), all allowing the vehicle to move relative to the inductor.
