Abstract

Pole piece designed particularly for synchronous motors and intended to reduce the effects of heating at the pole surfaces, is made up from a stack of laminations the face of which (5) may include between the laminations some other metal the whole being bonded together by soldering or plating. Each lamination (2) is cut away such that expansion due to heating may take place without distorting the pole. The slots (13) may be cut in such a way as to include the bolt hole (14) for clamping the stack. The lamination has a dovetail to facilitate keying into the pole piece core.
