Abstract
The process is for use with a low temperature tank thermally insulated from its surroundings, and involves using a sprinkler pipe discharging into the tank at the maximum level of liquid (H). The steady fall in pressure during the major part of the filling operation is monitored, and the pressure rise is detected at the moment of immersion. The filling operation is then halted. Injectors can be used, discharging the liquified gas in droplet form in the gas-filled portion of the tank. The pressure detectors can be mounted on the flexible filling connection, e.g. on the control handle, and can be arranged to stop filling automatically on detection of pressure rise.
