Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of inspection by boiling off residual low-temperature liquified gas remaining in the tank with part of boiled-off gas at increased temperature and under increased pressure. CONSTITUTION:A boiled-off gas return pipe 10 is branched from a piping 8 of a boiled-off gas line 7 after a boil-off gas compressor 9, and it penetrates inner and outer tanks 5 and 2 and a cold insulation material 3 and is connected to a ring-like nozzle pipe 12 disposed on top of a bottom plate 5'' of the inner tank 5. At the time of the inspection, a valve 11 which is normally closed during the operattion is opened for supplying part of the boiled-off gas in an increased temperature and pressure state passing through the boiled-off gas line 7 to the ring-like nozzle pipe 12 and blowing it out therefrom, whereby residual low-temperature liquified gas 6 is quickly boiled off by the gas-liquid contact and agitating action and is exhausted. Thus, the period of time from the start of draining of the stored low- temperature liquified gas till the start of inspection of the open tank can be reduced to achieve the intended end.
