Abstract

The handling system for finished bricks which have tapered sides deposits alternate bricks from a batch on a receiving table. The bricks are gripped and rotated about a horizontal axis so that, when deposited again amongst the remaining stationary bricks, the tapered sides of each are in contact, forming rectangular blocks which can be stacked satisfactorily. The tables on which the bricks are placed, travel on rollers of a roller conveyor, and are moved to a position underneath a further mechanism which grips rows of such blocks so that they can be spaced against other rows, then turned about a vertical axis through a right angle for stacking on pallets. The mechanism for rotating the bricks about a horizontal axis, has a carriage which travels to and fro on rails, with a frame carrying the grippers.
